Physical Therapy to Improve Your Balance, Build Strength, and Reduce Fall Risk

Falls are the leading cause of injury for adults 65+ and affect more than 1 in 4 older adults each year. The good news: many falls are preventable with targeted strength and balance training guided by objective testing.

Balance and fall-prevention therapy is covered under your standard physical therapy benefits in most cases. We’ll verify coverage and help you get scheduled quickly.

What Makes the PROMPT Balance & Gait Program Different

Assessments That Measure What Matters

  • Validated clinical tests to screen balance, mobility, and strength (for example: Timed Up & Go, Four Square Step Test, Mini-BESTest, Five-Times Sit-to-Stand, 30-Second Chair Stand).

  • Objective force-plate testing (VALD ForceDecks) to quantify Center of Pressure (CoP) metrics like total excursion, mean velocity, and sway ellipse area—giving real numbers on postural control and limits of stability. Lower excursion/velocity and smaller sway area generally indicate better control; parameters can be progressed with eyes-closed/unstable surfaces.

A clear, individualized plan

  • Your plan targets the exact drivers of your imbalance: lower-body strength, reactive balance, gait mechanics, and (when needed) vestibular training. Progressions move from supported to more challenging positions and from bilateral to single-leg tasks at a pace that feels safe—but effective.

One-on-one sessions with real-time feedback

  • Every visit is with a licensed physical therapist, focused on high-quality coaching and safe challenge. We use your test results to progress intensity, not just add random exercises.

Measurable Progress

  • We re-test key measures and show you the improvements in plain language (and graphs): faster TUG times, stronger sit-to-stand, steadier forceplate sway, and better walking endurance so you know it’s working.
